What an outing! This was our first participation at Comic Fiesta 2011, and it was a resounding success! There were at least a  few hundred visitors at our booth on the two days, and many were interested in our Freehands : Digital Art courses.

Objective  :

This is a 4-part, once a week workshop that teaches the use of studio flash for still life work. It covers the essential use of the light meter to measure light and understanding of lighting ratios and the use of various light shaping tools for creative lighting effects. The participants will learn the fundamental styles of lighting for effective still life photography work on various material and surfaces and shall benefit those who are into product photography.

Pre-requisite :

DSLR with at least 1 external flash. Participants must have at least a good understanding of exposure (ISO, shutter speed & aperture) and camera operation.

Our FREEHANDS trial classes were commenced on 27 November 2010, at Bandar Utama (BURA) and LrSA (Cheras). Attended by both parents and children, we received very encouraging feedbacks and sign ups! Our classes will start in early January at both locations, conducted by our digital artists on Saturdays and Sundays, from 8.30am to 12.30pm. This is an hourly class, with a maximum of 5 students per class. The promotional rate of RM99 per month is still available for grabs if you sign up between now to 31 December, 2010, after which will revert to the original price of  RM120 per month.

This is a 24-module course most suitable for children from age 7 to adults who wish to learn a new technique in drawing and painting using computer tablets and software. I’ve been getting quite a number of enquiries on this workshop that I’ve conducted for Sony, so I guess it’s high time I rolled this out at Lightroom Studio & Academy.

Course Fee : RM150 (5 to start, 10 max)

This will be a 3-hour workshop, focusing on how to do creative lighting using only one flash. In this workshop you will learn how to use each flash mode on-shoe and off-shoe (wireless). You will also be introduced to various light shaping tools from Lastolite, Lumiquest and some other 3rd party products.

After attending this workshop, you will be confident enough to handle most event-based (indoor) photography, and even taking on some portraiture and still life assignment using just one flash. You will be guided through some simple to follow and easy to repeat steps to creating some best light with your flash!

This class is open to all DSLR users of any camera brands.
